In 2008, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My wife and I had researched different treatments for prostate cancer, to include treatments with patients in my age group. Initially, I had considered radiation and surgery in hopes of having the cancer removed. However, my doctor, Jack Cassell, considered High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) as another means of treatment. After carefully researching HIFU treatment, my wife and I had considered that ablation was the best procedure for me. The day of the procedure, I was met with the nicest and most professional medical staff a patient could ever ask for. My urologist, Dr. Jack Cassell, was part of the medical team. The medical staff discussed the procedures, and how I would probably feel just afterward. At this point, I knew that I had made the correct decision. Since 2008, I have had physicals every 12-18 months to include blood work to detect my prostate specific antigen (psa) levels. My psa levels have been below 2 ever since the HIFU procedure. Today, I am doing well and have had no issues referencing my prostate. Travis Lane
The HIFU treatment I received was one of those experiences that just kept getting better. After starting to deal with my prostate cancer diagnosis, I was referred to Dr. Cassell for a possible treatment alternative to surgery or radiation. I had already scheduled radiation treatment to start in 5 days and I was in the middle of preparing for a cross-country move to start a new job in 6 weeks. After meeting with Dr. Cassell and being informed that I was a good candidate for HIFU, I discussed it with my primary care physician and she was favorable as well. About 10 days later I reported to the hospital about noon on a Thursday for the 4 hour procedure. At 7:00 that night I was eating dinner with my wife in the hotel lobby. I went back to work the following Monday and never missed a day of work. We finished our move, started my new job, and I have not experienced any incontinence or impotence problems. Even though I paid for the procedure myself, I believe it was one of the best investments I have ever made. Dr. Cassel is a terrific doctor and I always feel like I am his most important patient. Dr Cassell diagnosed my prostate cancer two years ago at the ripe old age of 59. He said that I wasn't the perfect choice for HIFU on account of the number of biopsies with tumor but I wanted to take the chance. The procedure was nothing to go through and I have no problem with leakage and relations. My PSA is still 0.1! I don't regret it for a minute. Bill B.
I have been an ongoing patient of Dr. Cassell for six years. A trusted friend recommended Dr. Cassell and I would do the same as I have found his knowledge and skill exceeded my expectations. He continues to update his professional offerings as technology and medical knowledge evolves. Other gentleman of my maturity, almost without exception, require Dr. Cassell’s specialty. I have had zero complications as a result of his medical procedure. Dr. Cassell's team shows caring and empathy so one feels comfortable and well-attended. James G.
I went to multiple urologists for reoccurring kidney stones and I was treated with every traditional method such as adjusting my diet and increasing my water intake and even taking medicine everyday to cut down on the reoccurrence rate, but nothing worked and I kept making stones. No one was able to help me. A friend suggested I make an appointment with Dr. Cassell in Mount Dora and during my first visit he suggested an endocrine cause for my stone problem I had never heard of -- hyperparathyrordism. After being tested we found that this in fact was the reason I kept making stones. I was treated for this condition and not only am I cured of my kidney stone problem, I feel so much better! Thank you Dr. Cassell for thinking outside of the box. Cassie S.
I always said that if ever I needed a urologist, I was going to Dr. Cassell. It was all about the sign he put on his door that won me over! I was suffering with old man's prostate and got the microwave treatment a few years back. I'm not running to the toilet all day and night now. I strongly recommend Jack if you have urinary problems. I went to Dr. Cassell's office to figure out what was going on with my body. I didn't feel like myself at all. A 45 year old guy isn't supposed to be having trouble in bed and feeling like my dad. I got my testosterone back to normal and I'm a new man. Dr. Cassell gave me my life back.
When I began to consider having a vasectomy done, there was one name that I consistantly heard and that was Dr. Cassell in Mt Dora. I'm the kind of person that trusts in others personal experiences so I gave his office a call to gather the financial information needed and set up my consultation. Currently I prefer to pay cash for my medical visits, if you do the same I'm sure you will find Dr. Cassell's prices to be more the reasonable. I found the staff to be not only friendly but helpful and informative. Like many men, I suppose, I was a little nervous about the procedure. I was provided a small dose of medication to take prior to that would help with that and it certainly did. The procedure was a cakewalk. He started with a needleless anesthesia that numbed you instantly. (Let me share this with you quickly before I continue. In my research before deciding who to go to and listening to others step by step experiences, for those that don't use needleless anesthesia all I can do is cringe.) He then made a small incision that you don't feel what so ever and calmly explained what he was doing while he was doing it so that you would be educated about the process. After repeating the process on the other side, you quickly realize that the entire procedure was done in under 10 minutes. The next day I literally had zero swelling and a small purple bruise barely the size of the incision on either side. I've had zero issues to follow and have gone as far as telling people that it was so easy that I would do it just for fun. Since then I've recommended dozens of people call Dr. Cassell if they are considering a vasectomy or any other urology issues and I've heard nothing but praise from those that have listened. Do yourself a favor and take my advice! Bill Gold
I was diagnosed a few years ago with "localized prostate cancer". I read about an alternative procedure successfully being offered by Dr. Jack Cassell so I decided to call and make an appointment. I debated about surgery and radiation but decided to go with HIFU because of the few complications associated with this treatment. I was able to walk out of the hospital a few hours after the procedure and only experienced a little discomfort for a short time. Jack as I now call him became my "friend" and a life saver. I strongly recommend HIFU if you're a candidate, it's well worth the price tag and above and beyond the alternatives. I thank God for Jack being there at the right time in my life. What a Blessing!
